Rants & Yarns
One of the most profound, the most agile thinkers I’ve ever known was an African, John Sherman. To spend time with
John was to be constantly amazed at his observations and the depth of his understanding of the world we live in.
Other people I’ve known who’ve really impressed include a guy I saw on an internet video, the Turtle Man - who’d go into algae covered farm ponds after turtles hiding in the mud at the bottom. Video showed him up to his chest in slimy waters feeling the pond floor with his bare feet, until he toed a turtle and he’d dip down and grab that turtle, and in bringing it to the surface would smile this enormously, gapped toothed smile and yell. The man was powerfully proud of what he’’d found and raised over his head.
So I got some things to say here in this section, in a woefully inadequate imitation of John Sherman. Sort of like toeing turtles in the mud of my head…to bring them out for you to see, so I can smile and holler…
